INSTALLATION.
St. Mary’s Church, Burham, Kent.
Bed Girl travelled to St. Mary’s to install her collection of miniature beds, she laid out them out like a dormitory, mirroring the grid of tombs outside in the church graveyard.
Bed Girl gives love and attention to every individual bed and its bedding, the marks, materials and embroidery areĀ very small jesters about human experiences; pain; suffering; solace; rest and repetition. Each bed is important to her individually and as a collection. The collection is accompanied by oversized black shapes that further suggest the presence of illness and overthinking.
Bed Girl is not attached to outcome, she remembers her childlike self and is only preoccupied with her intention of creating her collection. She will continue to travel through Kent with her beds.
With thanks to St. Mary’s Church, Burham and Rosie James.
Final photo of Bed Girl thanks to Cas Holmes.
